About the Artist
I was Inspired by seeing Dali's exhibition some 20 years ago as a young teenager, this was a spell binding experience for me.
I have always had a more surreal and abstract viewpoint in life and seeing and feeling things that are invisible to most people.
My creations have been influenced by my life experiences. Plus the way in which I interact with the world and my visions of the future.
I have had some amazing recent life experiences, including getting married and travelling to New Zealand and Australia.
All of this combined has inspired me to push myself to go into unchartered territory with my art, and bring my thoughts and inner emotions out onto the canvas..
I love nature and enjoy being outside, I find creative influences from all walks of life.
I'm passionate about my creations and I hope they inspire you.
Techniques
My work is abstract and surreal in form.
Etching & Printmaking: These particular creations are created through a process of etching with aquatint along with multi plate etchings. I etch onto zinc and steel using different varnish resists with aquatint.
My finished print creations are a result of combinations of different metal plates and colours allowing me to explore the layering of imagery. This particular work is very labour intensive and involves plenty of patience.
Sculptural Paintings: These are created with acrylics and gouache paints with inks. Wax and glue are also featured in several areas. Gels and Pumice which is a very light and porous volcanic rock, have all been used in my creations. I use palette knives, brushes of different sizes as well as my hands to create these different effects.
